Handling TOEFL Speaking Q2

TOEFL Speaking: Opinion

Some people prefer to be employed by a company and others prefer to start their own company or work for themselves. Which would you prefer to do and why ? Include reasons and examples in your answer.

Preparation time: 15 seconds
Response time: 45 seconds.

Using a piece of paper, write down a couple of keywords to use in your response.  Begin your answer by stating your preference and the main reason behind it.  After you have provided your example, continue by considering the opposing opinion. What reasons could support it ?

"I would prefer to work for myself assuming I could make enough money to provide a decent standard of living.  When self employed, you have the freedom to discover what interests you and focus on developing your strengths in that area.  You don't have to deal with corporate politics and pleasing your boss. Hopefully, you don't have to spend time in too many boring meetings, either.  On the other hand, working for an established company provides a set schedule and eliminates the time freelancers have to often spend searching for work. Larger companies also look good on your resume when you are searching for your next job."
